Set in medieval Scotland Macbeth the play charts the bloody rise to power of the warrior Macbeth. Already a successful soldier in the army of king Duncan, Macbeth and his best friend Banquo run into two witches who proclaim that Macbeth will be promoted to thane of Cardow and shall later rise to be the King of Scotland. Both men are troubled by this, especially when shortly after the witches vanish the king’s messengers arrive with news that Macbeth is now Thane of Cawdor (just as per prophesy of the witches).

 

Driven by ambition and greed for power Macbeth and his fearless wife lady macbeth plot a scheme to murder King Duncan, who is set to stay at their palace for a night. That evening, the Macbeths commit the murder and the following day, Macbeth is crowned the new King of Scotland.

 

Everyone in the kingdom is suspicious of the king’s murder and Macbeth’s quick rise to power.He become paranoid and insecure and swears to do everything within his powers to retain the crown.Can this valiant warrior fight everyone that comes on his way including his best friend Banquo? Why is the play popularly known as the tragedy of Macbeth?
